Medivir, a Swedish pharmaceutical company, has investigated several compounds against various viral diseases including HIV: MIV 150 and Alovudine.

MIV 150 is less advanced than MIV 310. It is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), and a phase I study was conducted in 1999. It is supposedly active against HIV variants that are resistant to both nevirapine and efavirenz.

More research has been conducted since (2000-2001) looking for a better formulation,, but as the rights were all sold to Chiron, it is no longer Medivir's responsibility to develop it. Chiron has made no announcement on future plans.
