GPG-NH2 is an experimental anti-HIV drug which blocks formation of the virus capsid protein. This tripeptide has demonstrated anti-HIV activity in test-tube studies and an early safety and efficacy study of GPG-NH2 in 15 men has been conducted.

The drug was administered orally for two weeks. Six participants underwent a dose escalation while the remaining nine received a consistent dose. Median viral load reduction amongst the nine on the steady dose was 0.4 log with two men experiencing a one log drop. One person developed rash.

Further studies are planned.
