Some people like rings or keepers through different parts of their body: the ears, nipples, nose, cock, labia, or almost anywhere else. Or they enjoy temporary needles through various bits of their skin as part of an SM scene such as a `hospital' fantasy. Some people get a sexual pleasure out of the process or results of cutting the skin to produce scars.
The risk here is that of shared needles or blades.
The crucial thing is to make sure you use sterile disposable hypodermic needles or blades once only on only one person and then dispose of them carefully. Make sure anything sharp is wrapped up first so that anyone handling your rubbish cannot be pricked by it.
Before starting the area of skin should be prepared with an antiseptic (just like a real medical procedure). During the `scene' any drops of blood should be wiped away carefully with disposable sterile cotton, and the cotton should be disposed of carefully. More antiseptic should then be used.
If your piercings bleed, or the wound opens up during sex, take care not to get blood, cum or vaginal juices into each other.
